Halal Cart

"small food cart, parked on Houston Street between Mulberry and Lafayette Streets. the cart serves Halal / Middle Eastern styled eats during the day to early night. it looks well maintained inside and out. the menu is a variety of pita style sandwiches as well as meat + rice platters. i have primarily ordered falafel over rice or chicken over rice. both have been satisfying—with the servings for each being ample. the rice is always well-seasoned. the chicken (or falafel) has been flavorful but still cooked through without being dry or chewy. there’s always a small amount of “salad” packed in next to the rice as a cool palate refresher. always go with the white sauce + hot sauce for additional punch to the platter. the food is packed up neatly in bio-degradable containers. chicken over rice is $7 + tip the owner/cook is very nice and takes his time making sure your food is up to snuff."

"Lamb and chicken over rice, spicy with white and barbecue sauce. Not usually fond of spicy food but still finished the entire thing (be careful, pretty spicy). Lamb was ok, but chicken and rice was so good. Really good service!"
